You won’t always want to bring me into your classroom for show and tell, but today you did.

You wrote me a note on a blank piece of paper, using all the colors in the rainbow to ask me.

“Dear Mom, Can I bring you for show and tell?”

You won’t always light up when you see me walking into the classroom, but today you did.

You jumped out of your little chair and grabbed my hand, proudly claiming me as yours. You couldn’t have known it, but my heart nearly jumped out of my chest.

You won’t always want to climb up onto my lap and tell your friends, “This is my mama,” but today you did.

You squeezed my hands with yours and wrapped them tight around your chest.

You made me feel so important, so loved. I was the most important person in the world for those five minutes.

You won’t always want me around, but today you did. And I’ll never forget it.
