Home / Relationships / Blended Families Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t always live with her husband because #coparenting Here's how it works. By Zara Hanawalt June 11, 2019 Rectangle Figuring out how to balance new relationships and blend families will probably never be easy, but it’s totally possible with a bit of creativity and a lot of compromise. See: Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk, who have come up with a nontraditional setup that works for them and their marriage. The actress spoke up about this during a recent interview with The Sunday Times in which she revealed that she and Brad don’t always live together. Here’s how it reportedly works: The couple co-habitates at Gwyneth’s house four nights a week, but spends the other three nights apart. Brad goes back to his own home and spends those three nights with his children Brody and Isabella. data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version="4" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"> “Oh, all my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn’t change a thing,” Gwyneth tells The Sunday Times. “I don’t care about the haters. Haters are irrelevant to me.” Years ago Gwyneth made headlines when she dubbed her split with Chris Martin a “conscious uncoupling” and also raised eyebrows when she invited Chris along on her honeymoon with Brad—so she’s no stranger to being scrutinized for her relationship choices. And while her living arrangement with Brad may not be for everyone, it’s earned the stamp of approval from her friends and even an expert “intimacy coach” (Gwyneth says the expert believes this setup gives their relationship “polarity”). Now, this type of unconventional marriage arrangement may not be for everyone. For starters, not many couples can afford two homes. But the point here is, we’re all entitled to putting certain tweaks on the traditional picture of marriage and family if we feel they’ll enhance our lives. Whether Gwyneth and Brad’s situation seems enviable to you or like something that’s just not up your alley, you’ve got to give her this: She’s clearly figured out a system that works for her modern family (one that involves two partners who each co-parent with previous partners). And that’s all that matters. You might also like: Drew Barrymore and her ex are co-parenting #goals J. Lo, A.
