Table of Contents Toggle Which leggings are best for winter? The best fleece lined leggings for winter As a mom with a diehard pilates habit who works from home, Iâll admit that 85% of my life is lived in leggings. But living in Vermont where winter is more of a lifestyle than a season, my collection is divided into two categories: Regular leggings and fleece-lined leggings. Throughout winter, the season of single digit temps, hot cocoa, and the perennial quest to keep every inch of myself toasty, winter leggings are an absolute must. If youâve ever stepped outside when itâs below freezing in any other kind youâll know they somehow manage to make you colder. (Iâm sure thereâs science to support this theory. Somewhere.) Like their lightweight counterparts, winter leggings are comfortable and supportive. With a cozy interior, a bit of wind-blocking and even some heat-trapping technology, these snug wonders are the MVP of your winter wardrobe. Theyâre ideal whether youâre spending your afternoon at the sledding hill, hitting up an outdoor bootcamp workout, or simply posting up on the couch. Which leggings are best for winter? Even on the coldest days, if youâre spending time moving around outside, you can heat up pretty quickly. Since nothing brings a chill faster than sweating in cold weather, the best winter leggings are designed to be sweat-resistant. Theyâre also often sleek enough to work as a base layer under jeans or even snow pants. Whether youâre lounging at home or braving the chilly outdoors for a snowy run (or silent walk!), winter leggings are like a cozy throw blanket in pant form. And trust me, once youâve found the right pair, thereâs no going back. Iâve rounded up some of my personal favorites along with styles that come highly recommended by friends and reviewers. Considering factors like warmth, durability, features and opacity, here are the best fleece-lined leggings to check out. The best fleece lined leggings for winter CRZ YOGA Thermal Fleece Lined Legging âą $30 CRZ YOGAâs extensive collection of affordable activewear is one of the most popular on Amazon, and for good reason. Their pieces are generally well made, holding their own against big name brands that cost 3-4 times as muchâand their Thermal Fleece Lined Legging is no exception. The exterior fabric has the sleek sheen of most workout gear, with the added bonus of repelling pet hair while the interior fleece is soft and cozy. Their performance-focused design makes them a great option for outdoor workouts and hikes, keeping you toasty without overheating. And while theyâre double as thick as regular leggings, they still donât look or feel bulky. Like other reviewers, I find that they offer just the right amount of compression to keep everything tucked in without being overly squeezy. I also love that theyâre available in 25 colors and for my fellow short girlies, a 7/8 length as well! (P.S. They also come in a pocketed style.) Sizes available: XXS-XL SHOP AMAZON BALEAF Women's Fleece Lined Leggings âą $33.31 Another Amazon powerhouse, BALEAFâs Womenâs Fleece Lined Leggings are actually a #1 best-seller. The warm and comfy athletic design wears like much pricier styles, with a flattering fit and durability that keeps them looking like new wash after wash (for a third of the cost, no less). As far as the warmth factor, theyâre lined with a thin fleece thatâs similar to your favorite sweatshirtâmaking them great for temps as low as freezing. I love them for the kind of days that take you inside and out over and over. Popping into shops while running around town? No problem. You wonât freeze on the street, nor will you wonder if menopause is legit setting in as you wait for your latte. I also appreciate the flattering seams and generous pockets because looking cute is as important as being functional, IMO. Sizes available: XS-6XL SHOP AMAZON Old Navy High Waisted Fleece Lined Leggings âą $11.49 $22.99 At less than $15, itâs hard to pass up the High Waisted Fleece Lined Leggings from Old Navy. Theyâre a little thicker and more fleece-y than other styles on our list which makes them nice and cozy, but full disclosure, that doesnât mean theyâre warmer. The rise is high but not overly so and overall theyâve got a looser fit than the more athletic picks above. Personally, I like them for lounging at home since they feel like pajamas! Sizes available: XS-4X SHOP OLD NAVY Alo Airlift Winter Warm High-Waist Legging âą $138 Alo leggings are some of my absolute favorites, and this winter-ready pair is no exception. Made with their signature Airlift fabric, theyâve got a flattering sheen that not only makes your backside look *chefâs kiss*, it also seems to keep wind flowing right over top instead of piercing your skin. (They also look brand spanking new hundreds of washes later. Literally. I can attest.) Theyâre high-waisted with a nice wide band that doesnât roll down, completely squat-proof and sweat-wicking as well. For extra warmth, theyâre lined with a thin brushed interior but still thin enough you canât even tell from the outside. My only complaint is they donât have enough size options! Sizes available: XXS-L SHOP ALO Vuori Chilled Out Legging âą $128 I snagged a pair of Vuoriâs Chilled Out Leggings just before they sold out last year and am super excited that theyâve brought them back. Theyâre the thinnest of all the lined-leggings Iâve tried and while theyâre definitely warm enough for sub-freezing dog walks, Iâve also worn them to pilates classes and not sweat my face off. (Who wants to be cold on the walk to the car? Not me!) They donât add any bulk, just a thin layer of microfleece on the inside which means theyâre just as flattering as any of my regular Vuori tights. (Read: Very. They hug your rear and flatten your belly without going full boa constrictor. Itâs a win.) Sizes available: XXS-XXL SHOP VUORI Uniqlo HEATTECH Ultra Warm Leggings âą $19.90 When it comes to base layers, I donât think thereâs a better bang for the buck than Uniqloâs HEATTECH line. The innovative fabric is designed to retain body heat and create warmth as it wicks moisture away from the body. (Science? Sorcery? Not exactly sure on the specifics, TBH.) But what I do know is that as a 20+ year Vermonter, Iâve bought quite a few pieces over the years and always find it to be top notchâand easy on the budget as well! This particular style, which is even warmer than their regular HEATTECH, makes a great first layer on the coldest days since theyâre not too bulky to wear under jeans or other leggings. Sizes available: XXS-XXL SHOP UNIQLO Eddie Bauer Women's Crossover Winter Trail Adventure High-Rise Leggings âą $99 Whether youâre a cold weather trail runner or a champion errand runner, this high-tech style from Eddie Bauerâs got you covered. Made with their Crossover premium brushed fleece fabric which keeps you warm without adding bulk, theyâre the perfect intersection of function and style. Stash your essentials in the side zip pocket, and comfortably sweat all you want thanks to their moisture-wicking and odor-controlling abilities. They wash incredibly well, holding up to tons of use and with regular, petite, tall and plus sizing, itâs easy to find your perfect fit. Sizes available: XS-XXL SHOP EDDIE BAUER L.L. Bean Women's Perfect Fit Pants Fleece-Backed Leggings âą $69.95 The mid-rise L.L. Bean Womenâs Perfect Fit Pants Fleece-Backed Leggings is everything we love about the brandâsimple, hard-working and practical. The interior is lined with comfy fleece that makes them warm enough for winter walks but not so hot you canât wear them around the house as well. (Since they donât offer any compression, theyâre definitely nice to relax in!) And even though theyâre a cotton/poly/spandex blend, the color holds well after a season of washing. Sizes available: XS-3X SHOP L.L. BEAN Constantly Varied Gear Fleece Lined Leggings âą $64.99 Perhaps the coziest on our list, the Constantly Varied Gear Fleece Lined Leggings are an annual purchase for many cold-averse leggings fans. They only drop a couple colors each season and once theyâre gone, theyâre gone. The reason for the hype? Theyâre pretty much perfect. The inside feels like a minky blanket and keeps the chill out in absolutely brutal temps and somehow doesnât look bulky. Dual pockets hold your essentials and the high waist and compression lends a snatched look that letâs be honestâis what weâre really here for. (Note that these are the thickest on our list and can easily be a base layer under snow pants but wouldnât work under jeans or regular pants.) Sizes available: XS-XXL SHOP CVG Woolx Stella Leggings âą $150 Alternatively, you donât have to go the fleece-lined route at all. Wool is the OG of warm winter clothing with the added benefits of breathability, odor-resistance, UPF protection and moisture-wicking. And while it comes at a cost, itâs also designed to last far longer making it a great long-term investment. The Woolx Stella Leggings are a top-rated winter favorite for all those reasons alongside a stella(r!) fit and dependable squat-proof coverage. And if youâre worried theyâll be itchy, donât be. Since theyâre made from superfine merino, theyâre incredibly soft and hold up like a dream.
