This at-home beauty service gave me a date night makeover and here’s how it went
A glow up without having to book a babysitter? Yes please.
Trying to get ready for date night when you have little kids is no easy feat. However, I love going out with my husband and getting dressed up and looking nice. It is a much-needed break from working from home life. But sometimes all of the logistics of finding a place to eat, booking a babysitter, picking out an outfit, and trying to look semi-decent make it easier to just turn on the TV and stay at home.
The other week I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to test out Glamsquad’s on-demand beauty services, where trained hair and makeup professionals come to your house and, in less than an hour, can transform you into looking fabulous for a night out. In lieu of having a black-tie dinner to attend, I put their services to use for said date night with my husband.
The Glamsquad experience
The experience of signing up for Glamsquad was super easy. I simply logged in to the Glamsquad website, entered my address, and selected the services I wanted; I chose a blowout and makeup application. When selecting the services, they allow you to add in additional options for hair styling, like braids, extensions, a bang trim, or even the option to have your hairstyling done outside. The makeup add-ons included having lashes applied, using an eye mask, or having an airbrushed look. One of my favorite features of Glamsquad is how efficiently they operate. Unlike traditional beauty appointments that require you to allocate hours for separate services, Glamsquad’s artists work simultaneously. This means that within just one hour, you can go from a busy mom to a glamorous, ready-for-the-night mom.
Glamsquad is the ultimate beauty hack for moms in need of a quick makeover or glow-up but don’t have time to go to the salon. On the day of my appointment, I invited my best friend over to participate in the Glamsquad experience, which was super fun to share together. My husband was working, so I set my kids up in front of a movie while the stylists set up. It was so nice not to have to pay my babysitter for extra hours while I left the house and to have my kids stay in the comfort of our home.
How much does Glamsquad cost?
The cost of a blowout starts at $60, everyday makeup starts at $65 and night out makeup starts at $90. While this is definitely not an everyday expense, I do think I would use it again for a splurge event like a wedding or a fancy party because it would allow me to look and feel my best without having to leave my house.
One thing that really impressed me was that the Glamsquad artists are true professionals. They come prepared with all the necessary makeup products and tools, ensuring that you receive a salon experience without needing to use your own tools or makeup. The whole experience was fun. The hair stylist asked me lots of questions about my preferred hairstyle and then got down to work, while the makeup artist listened to me share the “look” I was going for that night. We listened to music, chatted about having kids and working, and had an excellent time. We took before and after pictures to see the difference in our looks, and it was fun to see how my friend looked before she saw it herself.
When our appointment was done, the stylists cleaned everything up within a few minutes, and we were able to get out of the door and over to the restaurant within minutes, which was so refreshing. The convenience of Glamsquad is truly a game-changer for moms. I can’t wait to try it out for a wedding, a big birthday party, or even a mom’s night out. With Glamsquad, you can embrace the glamour and confidence that comes with a professional hair and makeup makeover, all from the comfort of your own home.
Currently Glamsquad is only available in New York, Boston, Southern California, South Florida, Washington D.C., Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Francisco and Long Island. You can book your appointment here!
