There are just some women who always look like they have it together. You know the ones—they’re always at work wearing a great outfit, or mid-tantrum with a 3-year-old but their hair is still perfectly in place. Well, these women aren’t superheroes, they’re just regular moms who have figured out a few expert tricks.
We spoke to a few beauty pros to weigh in on how to look put together in five minutes—even if you had no sleep last night. Here’s what they shared:
1. Opt for a natural-looking blush
Use blush to add a pop of color to the apples of your cheeks to give you a healthy flush and radiance. If you have dry and combination skin (especially during the winter season), opt for a cream blush to add a hint of hydration.
2. Apply concealer
Say it with me: Concealer is your best friend. Dimply dab on a bit under your eyes and around your nose to help you look put together in an instant. Look for a buildable concealer that covers dark circles, discolorations and uneven skin tones.
Pro tip: “To evenly apply a cream concealer, I love using a flat dense brush with medium to short bristles, like a Foundation Brush,” says celebrity makeup artist, Emily Hache. “Then, I lightly blend the product in with a slightly damp sponge for uniform coverage and a smooth finish.”
3. Add a shine serum to your ‘do
“A shine serum is a must to get that glossy finish,” says MariLynne Cosmillo, Cherry Blow Dry Bar’s Director of Education. “You can apply it before and after you style your hair to achieve the right combination of shine and weight. If you’re prone to flat, oily hair, skip the serum and opt for a shine spray that’s more lightweight and apply from ear-level down.”
4. Throw on a headband
Adorned headbands go well with straight looks or low buns and simple, solid headbands pair perfectly with thick waves or top knots when you’re trying to conceal dirty, messy hair. “Be sure to keep the embellishments on the adorned headbands on the smaller side, you don’t want the headband to take away from your overall look,” says Cosmillo.
5. Spritz rosewater for dewy skin
Rosewater is loaded with antioxidants and some antibacterial properties that have been known to soothe the skin and overtime reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Use after cleansing or throughout the day for a quick, dewy refresh to skin or after makeup application to set makeup for a hydrated finish.
