A water-resistant base keeps your belongings from getting damp when you set it down in questionable environments and a handy key ring prevents them from getting lost in the abyss. And if your kids are anything like ours, the 500 pound weight limit (literally) makes them the ideal tote for weekly public library visits.

Whether it’s my elder Millennial status, the Kate Middleton validation, or the fact they’re popping up on #RushTok, this list would be incomplete without mention of the timeless Parisian classic–the Longchamp Le Pliage Shoulder Tote. The first in that list is enough to tell you I’ve been loyal to this bad boy since the early aughts and while it did get relegated to the attic for a stint, I recently rediscovered my love for it. The nylon exterior is fairly easy to wipe clean while leather handles and accents make it feel suitable for everything from work to travel. It’s a bag that truly never goes out of style!

Having personally owned this best-selling bag for nearly a decade, I can tell you it’s an absolute workhorse. The chic leather silhouette makes it classy enough to be a work bag while the construction makes it rugged enough to carry cargo of all kinds. Initially I was a little disappointed that the leather is quite stiff, but the truth is, it has worn so much better than its more buttery counterparts. In fact, it still looks totally brand new. My only complaint is that the thinness of long strap makes it pretty uncomfortable if you’re carrying a heavy load, so if you tend to carry bags crossbody, I’d add a wider strap.
