To create your fireworks, poke a stick of rock candy into the middle of your cupcake.

Those long and hot days are just around the corner and what’s better than a healthy snack? To create your patriotic foods smoothie you’ll blend each layer separately. Start with your blue base by blending frozen blueberries and a splash of milk—ice and honey are optional. Pour the base layer into a cup and stick it in the fridge to keep cool. Your white base is just a blend of milk, honey and ice. For the red layer blend frozen strawberries with milk. Each layer should be chilled before putting it all together.

Slice cherry tomatoes in half and add those too. You can opt for canned corn or if the grill is on then freshly grilled corn. Add diced feta cheese, fresh mint and sliced cucumbers. Once you’ve cracked and peeled the cooled eggs, slice them in half and scoop out the egg yolks. Leave the yolks in a bowl to the side. Then, separate your sliced hard-boiled eggs into three groups. Leave one group as is. Group two should be submerged in a bowl of warm water, red food coloring and a dash of white vinegar. The same goes for group three but use blue coloring instead. Once they’ve reached the desired color, dry off the eggs. Meanwhile, use a fork to mash the yolks, add dijon mustard, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Pipe it with a star tip into the center of the eggs.

7. Red mashed potatoes

Make your mashed potato as you normally would but leave the skins on your red potatoes for color. The garnish is where it’s all at for this patriotic food. Sprinkle crushed blue potato chips on top. Add chopped chives and shredded white cheddar.

8. Fruit salad

You’ll need blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, kiwis, purple grapes, pears and pineapples. Dice what needs to be diced and add it all together in a large bowl. Drizzle a pomegranate molasses sauce on top and mix it all together for a tasty fruit salad.

9. Red, white and blue french toast bake

This simple, make-ahead recipe for baked french toast is a perfect sweet treat for Memorial Day, 4th of July or really any day. Cut day old French bread into chunky pieces and add them to a baking dish. Whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Pour the mixture over the bread. Spread blueberries and sliced strawberries on top. Cut cream cheese into small squares and distribute evenly on top. Refrigerate overnight. Then, when you’re ready to bake, let it come to room temperature and bake it at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.

10. Chia pudding

Pour coconut milk into a bowl and add chia seeds. Then, add coconut (or Greek) yogurt and stir vigorously. Chill in the refrigerator for a few hours and up to overnight. Gently mash raspberries and agave syrup. Stir the chilled chia pudding and spoon an even layer into a cup.
