Yara Shahidi, who is known for her roles in “Grown-ish” and “Black-ish,” transforms into a stunning and magical Tinker Bell. It’s the classic tale of a little boy who refuses to grow up and prefers to live a life of adventure in Neverland. With the Lost Boys being “not all boys” and Yara Shahidi debuting a Black Tinker Bell, this beloved children’s story is getting a modern makeover. The film loosely follows both the original story and Disney’s animated version, according to the director David Lowery. “In making ‘Peter Pan & Wendy,’ we set out to craft a film that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disneyâs animated adaptation,” he said. “We wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart, and a grand yearning for adventure.â Related: 20 of the best upcoming 2023 kids movies for your next family movie night Peter Pan will be played by Alexander Molony and Wendy by Ever Anderson, who looks exactly like her celebrity mom Mila Jovovich. Jude Law will be reprising the role of Captain Hook. And, an indigenous actor, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, will star as Tiger Lily. âHundreds of incredible artists spent many years bringing this film to the screen. Iâm excited for audiences to see their work, to go on this ride, and to rediscover an evergreen tale from a new perspective,” Lowery said. The movie premiers April 28 on Disney+.
