Disney+ adds warning to old movies with racist stereotypes

Disney+ is on a mission to create a better tomorrow for future generations. And in doing so, the popular brand is creating warnings on various family films in an effort to address the negative depictions and mistreatment of people and cultures.

The disclaimer states: “This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together. Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe. The 12 second warning appears at the beginning of flagged films including Lady and the Tramp, The Aristocats, Dumbo, Peter Pan and The Jungle Book.
